40,000 pounds of ice cream spill onto Interstate

Over the weekend, a truck carrying lots of Edy's ice cream tipped over while trying to get onto Interstate 69 in Indiana. If that wasn't bad enough, the trailer spilled open as they tried to move it off the highway. It looks like the truck driver will be ok, and oddly enough, it looks like they saved most of the ice cream too....

Yonanas Frozen Fruit Treat Nominated for Fruit Logistica Innovation Award 2012

The Pampered Chef Recalls Ice Cream Dippers Due to Impact Injury Hazard

WASHINGTON, Dec. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Distributor: The Pampered Chef, of Addison, Ill.

Manufacturer: The Zeroll Company, of Fort Pierce, Fla.

Hazard: When the liquid-filled ice cream scoop is exposed to warm water, the cap and seal at the end of the scoop handle can fly off with substantial force, posing an impact injury hazard to nearby consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The Pampered Chef has received 16 reports including damage to kitchen items and six reports of personal injuries including lacerations, bruises and redness caused by caps coming off the base of the handle.

Description: The dippers are metallic gray aluminum with a plastic dome-shaped cap on the base of the handle. "Pampered Chef" is imprinted in the cap. The ice cream dippers measure around seven inches in length. A non-toxic liquid is sealed inside the handle of the product which conducts the heat of your hand to more easily scoop hard ice cream.

Tasti D-Lite Acquires Planet Smoothie Franchise System

Dual-Branding Intended to Drive Growth

FRANKLIN, Tenn., Dec. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tasti D-Lite, the lower-calorie frozen dessert chain catering to health-conscious consumers has announced the acquisition of Planet Smoothie, LLC, a franchise system with more than 100 units in operation, mainly in Georgia and Florida. Planet Smoothie is a national franchisor and consumer products business which sells smoothies and all-natural snacks to health-conscious consumers. The strategic acquisition, which closed on November 30, will allow both brands to broaden product offerings, improve retail sales and accelerate unit growth through co-branding initiatives and non-traditional development opportunities.
