Front Porch, Carolina Churned Ice Cream, Launches Four New Flavors and Adds Two New Retailers to Southern-Inspired Line-Up

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 1, 2013) – One of the fastest growing ice cream pint brands in the U.S., Front Porch® Carolina Churned Ice Cream, recently released four new flavors to their Southern-inspired ice cream line and began distribution in regional Kroger and Walmart retailers.

Front Porch’s new flavors are County Fair Fried Apple Pie (my review here), Happily Pineapply Upside Down Cake, My-O-My Peanut Butter Pie (my review here) and Wildly Wildberry Cheesecake. All four flavors are available pint-size in select grocer’s freezers and at the authentic ice cream parlor located next to the original creamery in downtown Mooresville.

"The best part about Front Porch is the truly distinctive flavors,” said Michael Werran, production manager at Mooresville Ice Cream Company and Front Porch. “These four new flavors fit perfectly with everything that is Front Porch and the South – plus they’re flavors everyone can enjoy!”

The pint-sized ice cream is also now available in the frozen section of two new retailers, Kroger and Walmart. This expands Front Porch’s distribution from 1,500 BI-LO, Food City, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Ingles, Lowes Foods and Piggly Wiggly stores in Alabama, Washington DC, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia to now almost 2,000 retailers. The ice cream can now be found westward into Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Virginia.

The new flavor, Happily Pineapply Upside Down Cake, available to the public was a recipe inspired by Carolyn Malone, a Johnson & Wales University alumna. Malone submitted her “Memaw’s Pineapple Upside Down Cake” recipe in an exclusive contest Front Porch hosted with the university’s Charlotte, NC campus in the spring of 2012.

“The experience of working with Front Porch to create Happily Pineapply Upside Down Cake was a dream come true,” Malone said. “It’s very exciting to see the pint I inspired on the grocery store shelf!”

Front Porch and JWU will host a second student flavor competition again this spring. The Second Annual Front Porch New Flavor Competition 2013 launched in March and the final judging day will be on April 26.

Front Porch Ice Cream Spokesman Dale Jarrett Inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Front Porch Launches Limited Edition “Flavor #88” In His Name

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 23, 2013) – Front Porch Carolina Churned Ice Cream spokesman Dale Jarrett was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame yesterday. Mooresville Ice Cream Company, maker of Front Porch, in congratulations and celebration of Dale Jarrett, will be launching a new limited-edition ice cream. As a reference to Dale’s former car number, “Dale Jarrett’s Flavor #88” is a creamy chocolate ice cream mixed with butter pecans. This flavor will be available exclusively at the Mooresville Ice Cream Parlor in Mooresville, NC.

“Our new Dale Jarrett’s Flavor #88 flavor is very much a tribute to one of Dale’s favorite combinations, as well as an ice cream that captures our love for the Carolinas and NASCAR,” said Michael Werran, production manager at Mooresville Ice Cream Company and Front Porch.

The Mooresville Ice Cream Parlor will host an ice cream party in honor of Dale and his new flavor on July 9. NASCAR fans are invited to stop by to congratulate Dale and take photographs. Media can chat with Dale while enjoying NASCAR fare such as mini corn dogs and sliders and, of course, plenty of ice cream.

Dale says, “Besides family, racing and golf, ice cream is one of my all time favorites. It’s an honor to have an ice cream made in my name for my induction into the Hall of Fame.”

Dale is a 1999 NASCAR premier (now Sprint Cup) series champion and threetime Daytona 500 winner and one of the founding drivers of NASCAR Nationwide Series. He is currently an ESPN commentator and lives in the Carolinas. Dale Jarrett and father, Ned, are only the second “father/son” combination to be NASCAR Hall of Fame members.
