Baskin-robbins Reveals What Your Favorite Ice Cream Flavor Says About You

n Celebration of National Ice Cream Month, Baskin-Robbins Also Launches

CANTON, Mass.  (July 15, 2013) – Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, is keeping its celebration of National Ice Cream Month going by revealing what a person’s favorite ice cream flavor says about them, and by offering its fans the chance to win a year’s worth of Baskin-Robbins ice cream through its National Ice Cream Day Twitter sweepstakes.

Baskin-Robbins recently partnered with Dr. Alan Hirsch, a nationally recognized smell and taste expert and founder of the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, to identify what some of the most popular ice cream flavors suggest about someone's personality. The findings uncovered some interesting insights into ice cream fans’ unique characteristics based on their favorite Baskin-Robbins ice cream flavor.

"We uncovered quite a few surprising findings when investigating what a person’s favorite ice cream flavor says about their personality," said Dr. Hirsch. "For instance, we found that people who prefer Rainbow Sherbet are more pessimistic than you would think, in spite of the flavor’s bright taste profile, and that those who prefer Rocky Road are actually very good listeners.”

Here are some of the surprising results from the study:
·         If your favorite flavor is Vanilla, you’re more likely to be impulsive, easily suggestible and an idealist.
·         If your favorite flavor is Chocolate, you’re more likely to be dramatic, lively, charming, flirtatious, seductive and gullible.
·         If your favorite flavor is, Very Berry Strawberry, you’re more likely to be a tolerant, devoted and an introvert.
·         If your favorite flavor is Mint Chocolate Chip, you’re more likely to be argumentative, frugal and cautious.
·         If your favorite flavor is Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, you’re more likely to be ambitious, competitive and a visionary.
·         If your favorite flavor is Pralines ‘n Cream, you’re more likely to be loving, supportive and prefer to avoid the spotlight.
·         If your favorite flavor is Jamoca (i.e. coffee), you’re more likely to bescrupulous, conscientious and a moral perfectionist.
·         If your favorite flavor is Chocolate Chip, you’re more likely to be generous, competent and a go getter.
·         If your favorite flavor is Rainbow Sherbet, you’re more likely to be analytic, decisive and a pessimistic.
·         If your favorite flavor is Rocky Road, you’re more likely to be aggressive, engaging and a good listener.

To celebrate National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 21, Baskin-Robbins is launching a Twitter sweepstakes to give ice cream lovers a chance to win one of ten $31 Baskin-Robbins gift cards. In addition, one grand prize winner will receive $260 in Baskin-Robbins gift cards, enough for them to enjoy their favorite ice cream flavors for an entire year. Survey Methodology
Adults, aged 18-65, residing in the United States, completed the following standardized comprehensive psychiatric and personality tests: the Million Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III (MCMI-III), Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2), Beck Depression Inventory, Zung Anxiety and Zung Depression test batteries. DSM-IV-TR™ diagnoses and traits were determined. Results were statistically correlated with ice cream hedonics looking for statistical significance defined as p<0.05. To facilitate lay understanding, these results were delineated in informal language.

Ciao Bella Unveils New Products for 2013

Premium frozen dessert brand announces new additions to flagship gelato
 and popular Greek frozen yogurt lines this spring

Cold Stone Creamery Introduces Shark Week Treats

Yesterday, Cold Stone Creamery announced a new set of treats to tie in with the Discovery Channel's upcoming Shark Week which starts August 4th.


Introducing THIS CAKE BITES and SHARK WEEK FRENZY. The former is "layers of moist devil's food cake and blue sweet cream ice cream with oreo cookies wrapped in fluffy blue frosting and topped with gummy sharks". The latter is "blue sweet cream ice cream with graham cracker pie crust and gummy sharks".

I don't know if it's the awesome Jaws reference, the blue ice cream (that isn't cotton candy flavored), or the graham, but I am totally stoked about these new treats. What a fun summer idea. Nice job Cold Stone.
